When looking for a resort style RV experience in Florida, I heard from many people that Cabana Club was the place to go. I also heard, as is customary, the negative reviews about it - it was a parking lot, there's no shade, pool is too crowded etc. I did my research on it and saw the price ranged from $65 - $84 a night depending on the site type. I figured, what the heck let's try it. I called in order to receive the promotional discount on their website and was already impressed by the pleasant customer service. The photos looked wonderful of the pool, and *GASP* a slide (I'm a kid at heart!). It seemed very clean and well taken care of, and it also seemed like they had a lot of activities.

The drive was less than 2 hours, so it made for an easy commute. Upon arriving, the gate keeper led us to our site in his golf cart and assisted with backing in so we had ample room on either side. The site was crushed shells (ouch on the bare feet, but gave it a vacation-land feel) and level, and each site was separated by plants and brush which helped with privacy. There's also an astroturf section of the site, but gosh darn that was hot on the feet! We set out our mat, chairs, table and fan, and it felt very resort-ish - which I guess is the point!
The pool was beautiful! Everything was new and clean and you can definitely tell they put a lot of care into it. We arrived on a Sunday and the pool was a little crowded, but not too crowded that we couldn't float around in it. During the week days, it grew quieter when the kids left so I took advantage of the slide - so fun! The mini golf was also fun. There were 9(?) holes and we enjoyed having a friendly (competitive) game.
The atmosphere was great. It reminded me very much like a cruise on land. The only thing that would have put it over the top would have been having a place to grab a bite to eat. They do have food trucks that come by on Friday and Saturday nights, and they just announced they're partnering with Margaritaville, so something tells me they will have food all week, coming soon! The staff was super pleasant and wanted to make sure the stay was smooth and fun. There's two large firepits up by the tiki bar and yard games. We met 2 other couples as we sat by the fire and had a couple drinks with them while trading stories.

Now the cons. My list is very short.
Not much shade because the palm trees are so new. But that's expected for a newly built resort, and that's why we have awnings, right?
The construction on part of the park. But again, it's still being finished so that's expected. However, what I was disappointed about was they cut the power to our rig on the last morning because of the construction. I would have at least liked a heads-up. When I called, they did say it would only be an hour, so in the grand scheme of things - not a big deal.
So finally, is it worth the hype? Definite yes! When you don't want to be out in the woods and you want a fancy place to float around with a drink in your hand, then Cabana Club is the place to go! It's not outrageously expensive either for all the amenities you get. Highly recommend!
