Travel Trailer Newbies!

Dee and Jared

Well, we did what many first-timers do when they go look at RV's... walked out proud new travel trailer owners. That entire week between leaving a deposit and signing on the dotted line, I was panicked. Did we rush into this? Should we have looked at more options? Was it going to fall apart on the road like all of these reviews are saying it will? The more I read about the amount of repairs RV's inherently came with, the more nervous I was about the decision we made. I finally decided to set aside all of my anxiety and focus on the fun we were about to unlock for ourselves.

We have always been ones to prioritize ourselves last. I've always felt guilty taking vacations from work along with taking time away from our animals. I decided, apparently along with many others in 2021, it was time to focus on what brings us joy and invest time in each other. And what better way than to cram ourselves in a 31' box and hit the road, right? Even before we picked up our camper, I had multiple trips planned, and requested the time off work.

We originally went to the dealer for a modest travel trailer - under 20' with a murphy bed and small dinette. Instead we fell for the salesman trap and left with a much larger unit with much more space and bells and whistles. But I'm so glad we did! It has really checked a lot of boxes that I didn't realize I had.

During our walk-through I furiously took notes, re-stated everything the tech was saying, tried to video some of his instructions and wound up more confused than I did when we showed up. But gosh darn, were we excited! We pulled out of there brand new owners of our very first home on wheels. New adventures are on our horizon!
